Last Friday saw the Hughson brothers Shield Grand Prix Event take place in the Whitedale Snooker Club with 46 players entering on the night. The early rounds produced some close games leading on to the quarterfinal matches which saw Barry Couper beat Liam Sutherland 4-3, Stuart Paul defeat Alan Patterson 4-2, roger Irvine beat Ramsay Hogg 4-0 and Ian Hannah emerge the winner a close 4-3 victory over Craig Smith. The semi Finals were played over the best of 9 legs and saw Stuart Paul progress through to the final with a 5-3 victory over. The second semi final saw Whalsay’s Roger Irvine enjoy a 5-1 victory over Ian Hannah. The final was played over the best of 11 legs and saw Stuart Paul emerge the winner to claim the Hughson Brothers Shield with a 6-3 victory.

During the nights play 180’s where recorded from Craig Smith (4), Roger Irvine (2), Brian Wishart, Barry Couper (2), Liam Sutherland & Stuart Paul (2).

The highest checkout on the night was hit by Robbie Goudie with a 130, other high checkouts were recorded from Ramsay hogg 100, James Irvine, 106, Shaun MacKenzie, Liam Sutherland 105, Peter Peterson, 109, Barry Couper 125.
