Friday night saw the SDA Shetland Singles take place in the Lerwick Legion with 56 players entering on the night. The early round produced some close games leading into the quarter finals that saw Neal Redfern bt Liam Sutherland 4-2, John Robert Scott bt James Hall 4-0, Stuart Paul defeated Roger Irvine 4-1 and Gareth MacRitchie bt Ramsay Hogg 4-1.
The Semi Finals were played over the best of 9 legs and saw John Robert Scott bt Neal Redfern by 5 legs to 4 with John Robert hitting high finishes of 118,115 & 108 during the game. The 2nd semi final saw Sturt Paul bt Gareth MacRitchie 5-0.
The final was played over the best of 11 legs and Stuart take an early lead winning the 1st leg in 14 darts. John Robert levelled in the 2nd leg with a 120 checkout to complete a 15 darts leg. The next 2 legs were shared with both players averaging in the mid 90s before Stuart took the next 2 legs to take a 4- 2 lead. John Robert levelled the match again before Stuart claimed the remaining 2 legs to run out a 6-4 winner and claim the Shetland Singles title for the first time.
