Last night saw the SDA mixed doubles takes place in the Lerwick Legion with 14 pairs entering on the night. The format for the nights play saw a round robin format for the first round across 3 boards before the top placed pairings progressed through to the quarter finals.
The quarter finals saw John Robert Scott & Melanie Couper bt Rosaine Sandison & Alan Smith 2-0, Stuart Paul & Zara MacRitchie bt Michael Pottinger & Eleanor Irvine 2-0, Gareth MacRitchie & Sandra MacRitchie defeated Steven & Ellen Hughson 2-1 and Victor Young & Louise Duffy bt Craig Main & Michelle Hunter 2-0.
The semi finals were played over the best of 3 legs and saw Stuart & Zara progress through to the final with a 2-0 victory over Victor & Louise. The second semi final saw John Robert & Melanie also progress to the final with a 2-0 victory over Gareth & Sandra.
The final was played over the best of 5legs and saw John Robert & Melanie win the opening leg of the final before Stuart & Zara levelled before going on to win the next 2legs to run out 3-1 winners to win the 2019 SDA Mixed Doubles.
