Saturday saw the 1st Grandprix of the 2021-22 SDA season take place in the Whitedale Snooker Club with 22 players entering on the day. The format for the days play saw the players split into 4 round robin boards with the top 2 players from each board progressing to the quarter finals.

Following the round robin stages the quarterfinals saw Frank Watt bt Keith Hay 3-1, Arnold Brown bt Gareth Pottinger 3-2, Craig Main bt Liam Sutherland 3-2 and Neal Redfern defeat Ryan Mustard 3-0.

The semi finals were played over the best of 7 legs and both semi finals saw 4-0 victories for Craig Main over Frank Watt and for Neal Redfern against Arnold Brown.

The Final was played over the best of 9 legs with both players continuing to play to the high standard they had produced during the day with Neal Redfern edging the final by 5 legs to 3 to claim the Hughson Brothers Shield.
