Saturday the 2nd February saw the Hughson Brothers Shield take place in the Whitedale Snooker Club with 32 players entering the first Grand Prix event of 2019. The early rounds produced some close games before the quarter finals saw Neal Redfern edge out Barry Couper 4-3, Liam Sutherland bt Alan Patterson 4-2, Peter Peterson beat James Hall 4-2 and Gareth MacRitchie defeat clive Burgess 4-0. The semi Finals were played over the best of 9 legs and saw Neal Redfern progress to his 3rd Grand Prinx final of the season following a 5-2 victory Liam Sutherland. The second semi final saw Peter Peterson bt Gareth MacRitchie 5-1 to proress through to the final.
The ladies final saw Eleanor Irvine beat Michelle Hunter to claim the Ladies shield.
The best of 11 leg final saw Peter claim the opening leg before Neals slighty heavier scoring saw him claim the next 6 legs to record a 6-1 victory to claim the Hughson Brothers Shield.
