Last Friday saw 58 players enter the first Grand Prix of the 2018-19 season in the Sandwick Social Club. After the early rounds which saw some close games in the early rounds the quarter finals saw Neal Redfern win a close game 4-3 against Brian Patterson, Stuart Paul defat Calum Irvine 4-2, Clive Burgess bt Marc Henry 4-2 and Arnold Brown bt John Robert Scott 4-3.

The semi-finals were the best of 9 legs and saw Neal Redfern beat last year’s winner Stuart Paul by 5 legs to 2. The second semi-final saw Clive Burgess progress through to the final with a 5-1 victory over Arnold Brown.

In the final it was Neal who got off to the better start and although Clive did put on a leg on the board it was Neal who claimed the remaining legs to claim a 6-1 victory.

On the night there were 180s recorded from Neal Redfern x7 (3 of which were thrown in the final), Clive Burgess x2, Matt Fraser, Marc Henry, Stuart Paul x2, Calum Irvine, Arnold Brown.

The highest checkout on the night went to Brian Patterson with a 142, further high finishes were recorded from Alasdair Harmsworth 112, Maurice Clark, 112 & 102, Andrew Swannie 111, Stuart Paul 116, Arnold Brown 101, Neal Redfern 101.
