Friday 9th December saw 60 players (30 Doubles pairings) enter final Grand prix of 2022, the SDA Shetland Open Men’s Doubles in the Whitedale Snooker Club.

Following the early rounds which produced some close competitive games the quarter finals saw Craig Main &Ben Ferguson beat Andrew Simpson &George MacKay 4-1, Peter Peterson & Maurice Clark defeat Scott Williamson & Kieran Fraser, John Robert Scott & Craig Smith beat Stuart Paul & Barry Couper 4-2 and Ramsay Hogg & James McNab defeat Phip Mowat & Derek Hunter 4-2.

The semi finals were played over the best of 5 legs and saw Maurice & Peter run out 5-1 winners over Craig & Ben to progress through to the final were they met James & Ramsay who enjoyed a 5-1 victory over John Robert &Craig in their semi final.

The final was played over the best of 11 legs and saw Ramsay and James emerge as 6-1 winners to claim the 2022 Shetland Men’s Open Doubles Trophy.

During the nights play 180’s were recorded from Peter Peterson (5), Stuart Farmer (2), Dale Keith, George MacKay, Andrew Simpson, Philip Mowat and Frank Watt.
